USB debugging is a special mode that extends access to the operating system and the smartphone’s firmware. Originally it was used only by developers, but now this option is used by ordinary users. For example, to flash the device or to get root rights.
Debugging is also used for installing a third-party recovery menu (Recovery), viewing the error log, uninstalling system applications, and other operations. You can activate the desired mode in the settings of your Xiaomi phone by performing the following steps:
- Go to the “Advanced settings” section.
- Open the tab “For developers“. If there is no such tab, go to the “About phone” menu and tap “MIUI version” several times.
- Move the slider to the right near the “USB debugging” line.
After enabling the mode, you can connect the phone to your computer with a USB cable and perform the necessary manipulations.
