Un touchscreen è un termine derivato dalle parole inglesi Touch e Screen, che si riferisce a un touch screen. Si tratta cioè del display che l'utente tocca per eseguire determinate azioni. Vale la pena notare che il touchscreen è presente non solo nei telefoni ma anche in altre apparecchiature. Ad esempio, negli schermi di bordo delle automobili e negli smartwatch.

Quando si preme, la membrana viene deflessa ed entra in contatto con il pannello. Il controller incorporato registra la variazione di resistenza e la converte in coordinate tattili. Una caratteristica interessante è che i touch screen capacitivi non rispondono alla pressione degli oggetti, mentre i display resistivi non rispondono al tocco.
