GPS

GPS is a satellite navigation system that allows you to determine the location of your device. Such technology is used to construct routes, view current coordinates, and measure distances to objects. The system is based on receiving information from satellites, which takes time to collect. This is the so-called “cold start”, which most often takes 15-30 seconds. But before this, you need to activate the desired option in the settings by visiting the section “Positioning” or “GPS”. You can also open the notification curtain, where there is usually a button responsible for activating the function.

A-GPS is not a separate type of navigation but a common add-on for GPS receivers. This option allows obtaining information on the current location much faster by using additional sources. These sources can be telephone towers, mobile internet, or Wi-Fi. Using the A-GPS add-on significantly increases the accuracy of the positioning.

GPRS – is a communication standard that allows packet data transmission. It should not be confused with GPS because they are two completely different technologies. On a device with GPRS, you can use the Internet, although loading web pages will take a lot of time. But more often, such a module is built into the phone or navigator for more accurate positioning and viewing information about traffic jams on the road. This communication standard consumes a small amount of energy, which is very useful for long trips on the navigator.
