mAh

mAh (milliampere-hours) is a unit of measure used to indicate the capacity of batteries. Such a value indicates how much current a battery can deliver in one hour. Let’s take a simple example by comparing two batteries with a capacity of 2000 mAh and 4000 mAh.

The first battery can deliver 2000 mA in an hour or 1000 mA in 30 minutes. On the other hand, the second battery will already deliver 2000 mA in half an hour, which is noticeably more. This means more energy is stored in a 4000 mAh battery than in a 2000 mAh battery. Consequently, the phone with such a battery will work longer on a single charge under the same operating conditions.

However, when comparing the two batteries, we forgot about the voltage, which also plays an important role. For example, the first 2000 mAh battery has a voltage of 7.4V, and the second 4000 mAh battery has a voltage of 3.7V. At first glance, it seems that the second battery is much better. But they are exactly the same, as the power values are exactly the same. Therefore, when choosing a battery, you should pay attention to its capacity in mAh and the voltage.
