FTP

FTP (File Transfer Protocol) is a special protocol for transferring data between a server and a client. The main advantage of this protocol is that if an error occurs, sending or downloading a file stops rather than stops. It can be continued when the connection is restored. You can download completely different objects through FTP, from images to documents.

This protocol is actively used in corporate environments to create virtual vaults. Important company files can be stored there that only employees have access to. Programmers can use FTP servers to exchange codes or files. But what the average user may need such a server for?

For example, you can access files stored on your smartphone. The Wi-Fi FTP-Server application will help. All you have to do is install it on your phone and make some settings. First, to create a server, press “Run”. After that, a little below will appear detailed information about the server URL, user name, password, and the selected folder. Second, in the settings, it is desirable to change some parameters. For example, you can disable anonymous access to the server, enable secure data transfer via SSL, and select a specific folder on the smartphone.

Install the FileZilla program on your computer to connect to the created FTP server. You can also use an advanced file manager like Total Commander. It remains to fill in some data, such as the host, port, username, and password. After that, you will get access to the created server.
