T9 is a predictive typing system for phones. This was the first time push-button phones were equipped with such an option. If you remember, it was sometimes necessary to press the same key several times to select a certain letter. Because of this, sending a message took quite a long time.
Later came the T9 system, which made this task a little easier. Artificial Intelligence is like guessing what word a person wants to write and has substituted all the necessary characters. But with rare words and surnames, sometimes there were problems, so many people turned off the T9 mode.
Now modern smartphones use a newer system. In addition to simply adding characters, it can even correct misspelled words. If you want to disable or enable T9 mode on your Xiaomi phone, it’s easy:
- Open the settings.
- Go to the “Advanced settings” section.
- Open the tab “Language and input“.
- Enable or disable the modes: “Autocomplete” and “Spell Check“.
To save changes, close the settings or go back.
